The roots of O&K Mining GmbH (today Terex GmbH) reach back to 1876 when the Company's founders Benno Orenstein and Arthur Koppel hit upon the idea of moving rock and soil more quickly and efficiently by using narrow-gauge railways.

O&K has always pioneered progress and in 1961 was the first company in Europe to produce all-hydraulic excavators, and following the successful production of bigger and bigger machines, it is nowadays producer of the world's largest hydraulic excavator, the 1000 t heavy RH 400.

Since April 1, 1998, O&K Mining GmbH has been a part of the Terex Mining Group specializing on digging and haulage machines that operate in quarries and open-cast mines.

More than 10 heavy O&K Mining of over 80 tons operate in the major mines in Cyprus with excellent results as far as production and cost of production is concerned.
